MIIT: Accelerating the development of carbon footprint accounting standards for industrial products such as steel.
On a specific date, the State Council Information Office held a press conference to introduce the development of industry and information technology in the first three quarters of the year. The conference emphasized focusing on key products such as steel and new energy vehicles, accelerating the development of a batch of carbon footprint accounting standards, promoting industrial enterprises to reduce carbon emissions throughout the entire life cycle of products, and facilitating the transformation and upgrading of industrial chains and supply chains.
Meeting Introduction: The development of industry and information technology in the first three quarters of this year has shown several characteristics. Firstly, industrial economy has grown steadily. In the first three quarters, the value-added of industries above a designated size increased by .% year-on-year, playing a "stabilizing stone" role in macroeconomic growth, with a contribution rate close to %. Secondly, the pace of transformation and upgrading in the manufacturing sector has accelerated, including the cumulative cultivation of national intelligent manufacturing demonstration factories, new Chinese enterprises selected into the global "Lighthouse Factory" list, bringing the total number of Chinese "Lighthouse Factories" to , accounting for % of the global total. Thirdly, a series of major innovative achievements have emerged, including the successful grid connection of megawatt offshore wind turbines, the completion of sea trials for the domestically produced first Ⅲ thin-film type large Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) ship, and the simultaneous operation of large passenger aircraft by three major domestic airlines. Fourthly, the development and expansion of business entities have been stable, including the cumulative cultivation of manufacturing single-champion enterprises, more than specialized and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, and . million specialized and innovative "little giant" enterprises. Fifthly, the empowering role of information and communication has continued to be highlighted, including the integration of industry applications into major categories of the national economy, and the number of "Industrial Internet" projects exceeding . million.
The meeting also emphasized that the risks and challenges brought by the changing external environment have increased significantly, and some enterprises are facing difficulties in production and operation. However, the fundamental trend of China's economic development towards improvement has not changed. The global competitive advantages of China's complete industrial system, comprehensive industrial chain support, and relatively low comprehensive manufacturing costs have not changed. The positive factors driving upward and positive development are increasing. Especially with the recent implementation of a package of incremental policies, the momentum for industrial upgrading, the potential for consumer spending, and the vitality of business entities will continue to be unleashed.
Global launch of alloy wide and thick plates with a single weight ton or more
On a certain date, a reporter from China Metallurgical News learned from China Baowu Taiyuan Iron and Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. that Qinghai Asia Silicon Industry Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Asia Silicon Industry) sent a letter of thanks to Taiyuan Iron and Steel at the beginning of the month, expressing gratitude for Taiyuan Iron and Steel's outstanding contribution to the timely and successful commissioning of the first domestically produced photovoltaic polysilicon core equipment, the cold hydrogenation reactor.
It is reported that in the month of the year, China's first set of photovoltaic polysilicon core equipment, the cold hydrogenation reactor, was successfully and safely put into operation on time at Asia Silicon Industry, using entirely domestically produced materials. This achievement marks a transformation from reliance on imports to domestic self-supply, making it a milestone event in the construction of China's clean and renewable energy industry, and holds strategic significance for promoting the development of the new energy industry. As of now, the equipment has been operating smoothly.
Today, the photovoltaic industry has become a pillar of China's new energy sector. China's photovoltaic industry has maintained global leadership for many years in terms of technological capabilities, power generation, and installed capacity, with a broad market outlook. The demand for key materials in photovoltaic conversion, such as polysilicon, has also surged rapidly. As market competition intensifies, the core equipment for polysilicon production, the cold hydrogenation reactor, is evolving towards larger size and higher parameters. This development necessitates the rapid large-scale supply and upgrading of key materials, such as iron-nickel-based alloys, with requirements for greater thickness and single weight.
For a long time, the polycrystalline silicon core equipment reactor has relied on imported iron-nickel-based alloy wide and thick plate materials, which have been constrained by small specifications, high costs, and long delivery cycles, becoming a bottleneck in the development of the polycrystalline silicon industry, urgently requiring localization. The customer not only demanded stringent performance requirements such as high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance, strong corrosion resistance, and extremely high surface quality for this product, but also unprecedented requirements for thickness and plate weight, presenting extraordinary technical challenges. Domestic steel mills had never before supplied such products.
In the first half of the year, Taiyuan Iron and Steel (TISCO) took on the mission of achieving localization and large-scale supply breakthroughs in key materials for the photovoltaic industry. Through arduous technical efforts, TISCO boldly adopted an efficient short-process technology route, resolving a series of technical challenges in the production of wide and thick plates made from iron-nickel-based alloys. This led to significant innovations in the production process, allowing TISCO to independently develop high-performance, high-quality wide and thick plates, which were successfully mass-supplied in the same year. Subsequently, in response to the upgraded material selection requirements for polysilicon projects, TISCO achieved a global first by producing alloy wide and thick plates weighing over 100 tons, filling a market gap.
In the month and year, the research and development project won the first prize of the Metallurgical Science and Technology Award from the China Iron and Steel Industry Association and the China Metal Society; in the same month and year, it was also nominated for the "Prize" Annual Innovation Award by the World Steel Association for the year (the 10th session).
Jinnan Iron and Steel Group and Vale announce joint construction of Oman iron ore processing plant
On the date of the local time, Jinnan Iron and Steel Group announced the establishment of a partnership with Vale, the world's leading iron ore producer, to construct an iron ore beneficiation plant in the port and free trade zone of Sohar, Oman.
As introduced, the Suhar Concentrator Plant is scheduled to start production in mid-year, annually processing millions of tons of iron ore and producing millions of tons of high-grade concentrate.
