The China-International Renewable Energy Agency Cooperation Steering Committee Meeting was successfully held.
On the morning of the [specific date], the China-International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Cooperation Steering Committee Meeting was held in Beijing. Zhang Jianhua, Director of the National Energy Administration, and Francesco La Camera, Director-General of IRENA, attended the meeting. Representatives from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the China-IRENA Cooperation Office, and the heads of the five cooperation task forces on energy transition, hydropower, solar energy, hydrogen energy, and power grids participated in the meeting.
The participating parties engaged in in-depth discussions on how to better promote cooperation between China and other countries, achieving fruitful results. Zhang Jianhua pointed out that in recent years, enhancing energy security and accelerating energy transition have become a common consensus in the international community. Countries around the world are pushing forward with unprecedented efforts to promote green and low-carbon energy transformation. China and other nations share the common historical mission of driving energy transition and achieving sustainable development. It is necessary to strengthen cooperation and work together to advance the development of global renewable energy.
Since then, both sides have jointly established a "2+2+N" cooperation framework, comprising a steering committee, a cooperation office, and N specialized working groups, to create a closer, more efficient, mutually beneficial, and win-win cooperation structure. Next, China will increase its investment to support continuous growth and deepen cooperation, jointly building a global energy transition cooperation platform to help achieve the global ambition for renewable energy.
Kamelah stated that the urgency of global climate change response is increasingly evident, requiring concerted efforts from all parties to address risks and challenges. China, with its excellent renewable energy technologies and solutions, has consistently led the global energy transition, making positive contributions through concrete actions to the realization of goals. It is hoped that China will share its development experience with other member countries and is willing to further enhance cooperation with China, establish closer ties, and jointly shape the future of bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Director Zhang Jianhua and Director-General La Camera jointly signed the "Memorandum of Understanding between the National Energy Administration of China and the International Renewable Energy Agency on the Secondment of Officials to the International Renewable Energy Agency," and the meeting also adopted the "China-International Renewable Energy Agency Cooperation Annual Work Plan," demonstrating the firm commitment of both parties to jointly advance and pragmatically implement cooperation outcomes.
