Strong cold air drives away fog and haze, temperatures in many regions to hit new lows since the beginning of autumn.

Since the end of the month, due to the weak cold air, temperatures in most parts of China have been higher than the average for the same period in previous years. At the same time, in recent days, the atmospheric diffusion conditions in some areas of North China and the Huang-Huai region have deteriorated, leading to fog and haze weather.

Starting today, a strong cold air mass will affect areas north of the Yangtze River, gradually dissipating the fog and haze in the central and southern parts of North China and the western regions of the Yellow River basin. Most areas in central and eastern China will experience a drop in temperature, with temperatures in the regions north of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River falling to degrees Celsius. Local areas such as central Inner Mongolia and northern North China will see a temperature drop of degrees Celsius.

After the temperature drop, the weather will turn colder than usual for the same period, with many places setting new lows for temperatures since the beginning of autumn this year. The line of minimum temperatures in degrees Celsius extends from northern Hebei, central Beijing, central and southern Shanxi, northern Shaanxi, northern Ningxia, to southwestern Gansu.

In cities like Harbin, the highest temperature will drop to °C next Wednesday. In Beijing, Tianjin, and Shijiazhuang, the highest temperature will decrease from around °C this weekend to just over °C by next Monday, with the lowest temperature falling below °C.

From next Tuesday onwards, temperatures in many southern regions will also gradually drop to below average for the same period, with maximum temperatures falling from the current °C to around °C. On Thursday next week, the Lidong solar term will begin, and with the accompaniment of cold air, the autumn chill in the south will be notably significant. The public should pay attention to temperature changes, add clothing in time to avoid catching a cold.

Northeast China and Inner Mongolia brace for rain and snow, while Hainan Island and other regions experience heavy rainfall.

Yesterday, most parts of our country experienced little precipitation, mainly concentrated in Sichuan, Hainan, and Heilongjiang. Real-time monitoring data shows that from 08:00 to 20:00, small to moderate snow or sleet occurred in parts of northern Xinjiang, eastern Tibet, northern Sichuan Plateau, central and northeastern Inner Mongolia, northwestern Hebei, northern and southern Heilongjiang, and central-western Jilin. In northeastern Inner Mongolia, local areas saw heavy snow. Moderate rain fell in eastern Hainan Island, western Sichuan Basin, and southwestern Yunnan, with local heavy rain. In Chuxiong and Pu'er, Yunnan, local areas experienced heavy rain.

With the arrival of the cold air, rain and snow are expected in northern North China and most parts of Northeast China over the next two days. Meanwhile, overcast and rainy weather will persist in Sichuan, Tibet, and Yunnan, while heavy rainfall is also anticipated in Hainan Island, Leizhou Peninsula, and southern Guangxi.

The Central Meteorological Observatory forecasts that today, parts of Inner Mongolia's central-eastern region, eastern and northwestern Heilongjiang, northern Xinjiang's northern and eastern regions, southern and eastern Tibet, and northern Southwest China will experience light to moderate snow or sleet, with some areas in the northern part of the western Sichuan Plateau seeing heavy snow or even blizzards. Parts of southeastern Guangxi and Hainan Island will experience heavy to torrential rain, with some areas in eastern Hainan Island expecting extremely heavy rain, and localized areas in northeastern Hainan Island experiencing exceptionally heavy rain.

Tomorrow, parts of northeastern Inner Mongolia, northeastern Heilongjiang, eastern Jilin, eastern and southern Tibet, and western Sichuan will experience light to moderate snow or sleet, with heavy to very heavy snowfall in parts of southeastern Tibet. Parts of southern Sichuan, southern Guangdong, and Hainan Island will see moderate to heavy rain, with torrential rain in parts of southern Guangxi and the southeastern coastal areas of Hainan Island.

The day after tomorrow, parts of Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (northern Xinjiang and southern Xinjiang's mountainous areas), the northern and eastern parts of the Tibet Autonomous Region, the southern and western parts of Qinghai Province, and the northern part of Southwest China will experience light snow or sleet. In particular, areas in eastern and southern Tibet, southern Qinghai, and the northern part of the Sichuan-Tibet Plateau will see moderate to heavy snowfall. In addition, parts of southeastern Tibet, eastern and southern Southwest China, coastal areas of southeastern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Hainan Island, and Taiwan Island will experience light rain, with moderate rain expected in western Yunnan.

China Weather Network reminds that in rainy and snowy weather, the roads are slippery, and the public needs to pay attention to traffic safety when traveling. Hainan has experienced significantly more rainfall than the average for the same period in the past month, and another round of heavy rainfall is approaching. Local authorities should also guard against secondary disasters that may be triggered by the accumulation of rainfall.
