The world's first production! Dalian Shipbuilding's 7500 cubic meter liquid carbon dioxide carrier was successfully docked.

Recently, Chinese ship Dalian shipbuilding for Norway Northern Lights built the world's first 7500 cubic meter liquid carbon dioxide carrier ship No. 1 and No. 2 undocked.

The ship type has a total length of about 130 meters, a width of 21.2 meters, and a structural draft of 8 meters. It was independently designed and completed by Dalian Shipbuilding and has completely independent intellectual property rights. The ship type research and development process uses a variety of innovative technical means. The ship is equipped with two 3750 cubic meters of full-pressure C-type liquid cargo tanks processed and made of special materials for transporting carbon dioxide. The maximum bearing pressure reaches 19barg and can withstand low temperatures of-35℃. The main engine is equipped with two fuels: liquefied natural gas and marine light diesel, and its ship's sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides emission levels meet the requirements of the most advanced energy efficiency design index.

After undocking, the ship will carry out underwater mooring tests. After formal delivery, it will be used in the European Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage Program to collect carbon dioxide generated by European industries, transport it to the carbon dioxide receiving terminal in the west coast of Norway for processing, and inject it into the seabed 2600 meters underground for permanent storage. As the world's first ship specializing in marine carbon transport and storage, the ship will play a leading role in global solutions to land-based carbon dioxide emissions.
