On April 8, the Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao held talks with French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Franck Riester in Paris. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on issues related to China-France economic and trade relations.

According to Wang Wentao, this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, and under the strategic guidance of the diplomacy of the two heads of state, the scale and quality of bilateral economic and trade cooperation have continued to improve. Currently, China is advancing high-quality development, accelerating the development of new high-quality productivity, and actively creating a fair competition environment for domestic and foreign-funded enterprises, which will provide greater market opportunities for European companies including those from France. The Chinese side is willing to give full play to the role of existing economic and trade mechanisms with the French side, manage differences through dialogue and cooperation, and promote solutions to the major and reasonable concerns of both sides.

Lister stated that France supports free trade, is willing to listen to the demands of Chinese-funded enterprises in France, and is committed to creating a fair and competitive environment for enterprises. The French side appreciates the Chinese side’s measures to optimize the business environment and expand imports from France. It is hoped that the two sides will work together to properly resolve relevant differences in the economic and trade fields.
