From 00:00 on April 1, 2024, the reserved space for the third phase of the Macau Light Rail Transit Line extension to Hengqin Port will be officially delivered to the Macao SAR government for implementation under the laws of the Macao SAR government.

It is understood that the civil works and train system engineering for the Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT) Extension to Hengqin Port project have been basically completed and are currently undergoing equipment debugging. At the same time, the commissioning work for the electromechanical equipment and train system on the Macau side was carried out in January 2024. After the reserved space for the Macau LRT extension to Hengqin Port was transferred to the jurisdiction of the Macau SAR government, it will facilitate the construction management of the entire project as well as the commissioning work for the electromechanical equipment and train system for the entire line segment of the project. This will create conditions for opening to traffic within the year, which will facilitate travel for citizens and tourists.

The Australian port area of Hengqin Port and related extension areas will be transferred to the jurisdiction of the Macao SAR Government in three stages. The first stage will be transferred to the jurisdiction of the Macao SAR Government from 0:00 on March 18, 2020, and the second stage will be transferred to the jurisdiction of the Macao SAR Government from 0:00 on April 20 and 0:00 on August 1, 2023. After the reserved space extended from the Macao Light Rail to the Hengqin Port in the third phase was transferred to the jurisdiction of the Macao SAR Government, the Australian port area of the Hengqin Port and related extension areas have all been transferred to the jurisdiction of the Macao SAR Government.
