这样的敏感焦点，也说明了人民群众非常在乎“人民艺术家”的评选，更盼望能够评出真正的“人民艺术家”。

Literature and art are projects that forge souls; they require exposure as well as praise. What should be exposed? "All dark forces that harm the masses must be exposed"; what should be praised? "All revolutionary struggles of the masses must be praised". [They] are capable of enlightening thoughts, nourishing spirits, and cultivating life; capable of sweeping away decadent and languid habits; capable of serving the people and serving socialism.

We advocate the policy of letting a hundred flowers bloom and a hundred schools of thought contend, which means encouraging literary and artistic works of different schools, styles, and forms. However, we absolutely do not allow using literary and artistic works to desecrate history, ancestors, our motherland, justice, or the people. A writer who distorts historical facts, uses novels to oppose the Communist Party, and blasphemes the motherland is absolutely not worthy of the title "People's Artist." He can accept awards from his Western masters, but we absolutely cannot award such a person. This concerns the fundamental nature and orientation of socialist literature and art!

我们奋进新时代，进军中华民族的伟大现代化，需要有我们的人民艺术家，为这一伟大的工程提供文艺作品，“记录新时代、书写新时代、讴歌新时代”，“为时代画像、为时代立传、为时代明德”。因此，我们的人民艺术家的评审，应充分发动群众，走群众路线，广泛听取和尊重广大人民群众的意见，使这一评审更加公平公正，真正为人民群众所拥护。
