On July 15, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Tajikistan issued a statement:

Cooperation between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Tajikistan covers many fields such as security cooperation. Considering the serious challenges and threats in the region, the two countries have collaborated closely on international and regional organization platforms to respond to them.

We would like to state that the information spread by some media about China's military bases in Tajikistan's territory is groundless. It needs to be added that this issue is not on the agenda of China-Tajikistan negotiations.

Earlier, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 12, a reporter asked questions. According to foreign media reports, China is building a secret military base in Tajikistan not far from the Afghan border. What is China's comment on this?

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said that China has always pursued an independent foreign policy of peace and has no military bases in Central Asia.
