AfD Bundestag member Erhard Brucker sent a written threat to a Bundeswehr colonel after being denied participation in a military information seminar, according to a letter in the possession of Die Zeit.
Brucker had sought to attend a Bundeswehr information seminar that provides civilian leaders with insight into the armed forces. His participation was refused due to his political statements, which a court ruling described as degrading and fear-mongering toward Muslims.
In an email to the colonel who conveyed the rejection, Brucker wrote that "in nicht allzu ferner Zukunft meine Partei, die einzige demokratische Alternative für Deutschland, in Regierungsverantwortung kommen" ("in the not too distant future my party, the only democratic alternative for Germany, will come into government responsibility"). He then announced: "Sobald dies erfolgt ist, werde ich mich noch mal vertrauensvoll an Sie wenden" ("As soon as this has happened, I will contact you again in confidence").
