All venues of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference achieved self-sufficiency in green electricity for the first time

On March 25, CCTV's "News Network" reported that the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference used 100% green electricity.

The Boao Forum for Asia Annual Meeting 2024 (hereinafter referred to as the "Annual Meeting") will be held in Boao, Hainan from March 26 to 29. As of March 24, two rounds of full-load tests have been completed in important venues of the annual meeting. All important loads required for uninterrupted power supply have been connected to UPS power supply to ensure, and various power supply guarantees are ready. It is worth mentioning that all venues at this year's annual meeting have achieved self-sufficiency in green electricity.

"During the annual meeting, the supply of green electricity to all venues on the island is expected to exceed 430,000 kilowatt-hours, which is equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 225 tons." Chen Mingfan, head of the Strategic Planning Department of Hainan Power Grid Corporation, said.

The Boao Annual Conference continues to deepen the concept of "green hosting". On March 18, the Boao Near-Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone, jointly built by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Hainan Province, was officially launched, achieving self-balancing of electricity consumption and entering the near-zero carbon operation stage. Clean energy such as wind and scenery on the island was transformed into "green electricity", with an annual production of about 32 million kilowatt-hours, which can meet the annual electricity demand of the demonstration area of 17 million kilowatt-hours, and the remaining electricity can also be connected to the Internet.

In order to ensure the intelligent and stable supply of "green power" in the Boao Near-Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone, Hainan Power Grid Company has accelerated the construction of new power system projects and built China Southern Power Grid Company's first new power system demonstration project that meets the requirements of special guaranteed power supply. This is also the demonstration zone. Key supporting projects to achieve zero-carbon energy use, with a total investment of more than 100 million yuan. The person in charge of the Strategic Planning Department of China Southern Power Grid Corporation introduced that through the application of advanced digital grid technology equipment such as intelligent dispatch and edge gateways, Boao Dongyu Island realizes business management and control scenario functions such as online diagnosis, state awareness and control optimization of the status of distributed energy equipment, ensuring Reliable access and full consumption of new energy and new loads such as distributed photovoltaics, wind power, energy storage, and charging piles with a total capacity of 25,300 kilowatts on the island.

"We have built about 21.6 kilometers of new 10-kilovolt cable lines to form a high-standard 10-kilovolt dual-loop network power grid structure on Boao Dongyu Island. At the same time, we use the same optical fiber differential protection device as the main network on the island, even if multiple failures occur at the same time., it can also ensure reliable power supply and achieve automatic isolation and self-healing of milliseconds faults." The person in charge of the Qionghai Power Supply Bureau of Hainan Power Grid Company introduced that in order to ensure the high and reliable power supply demand of the annual meeting, the bureau used the 110 kV Peilan Station and the 110 kV Futian Station as power points to build a strong medium voltage distribution network on Dongyu Island. Grid, power supply reliability has been improved to 99.999%.

In order to ensure power supply at this year's annual meeting, Hainan Power Grid Company has launched special power supply guarantee tasks since December 2023, established 7 special working groups including power grid security, equipment operation and maintenance, and customer service, and established a 22-person on-site power supply guarantee core team, strictly implement the cancellation mechanism for power supply safety supervision issues, and coordinate and promote all work of ensuring power supply. At present, the company has completed professional inspection and maintenance, pre-test and regular inspection, and defect elimination of 59 substations, 96-circuit transmission lines, and 109-circuit distribution lines involved in the annual meeting. The elimination rate of emergency and major defects involved has reached 100%.

The person in charge of the Emergency Command Center of Hainan Power Grid Company stated that in order to ensure the safe and reliable supply of electricity during the annual meeting, the company has upgraded the power supply guarantee on the customer side, completed the risk assessment of 38 key users 'three-wheel sub-guaranteed power supply locations, and formulated emergency power supply vehicle access plan, dispatched 5 UPS power supply vehicles and 14 emergency power generation vehicles to connect to important users such as Forum Hotel, and completed the operation, maintenance and deployment of emergency power supply vehicles. 67 emergency teams of various types with a total of 1289 people were established, and party member vanguard teams, party member service teams and youth commandos were established to respond to emergencies at any time.
