The reporter learned from the National Solar Thermal Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance on March 19 that the world's largest single-unit tower photovoltaic power generation project under construction-CGNPC New Energy Qinghai Delingha Light Storage Integrated 2 million kilowatts (200,000 kilowatts of light and heat) project has officially started, marking the official start of the solar thermal storage multi-energy complementary project with the highest energy storage allocation ratio in China. This is also the world's largest single-unit capacity tower photovoltaic power generation project.

The project is located in the Photovoltaic (Solar Thermal) Industrial Park in Delingha City, Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province, with a planned area of approximately 53,000 acres. The total installed capacity of the project is 2 million kilowatts, including 1.6 million kilowatts of photovoltaics and 400,000 kilowatts of photothermal energy storage. The proportion of photothermal energy storage power is no less than 25%, and the energy storage time is no less than 6 hours.

The project adopts renewable energy power generation technology that combines photovoltaic power generation and photo-thermal energy storage. It effectively absorbs photovoltaic waste power through photo-thermal energy storage generating units and electric heating devices, and combines the output characteristics of photovoltaic and photo-thermal to form an integrated multi-energy complementary power generation project, and the annual on-grid electricity can reach 3.65 billion kWh after completion and commissioning. The project has good ecological adaptability, grid friendliness, technical safety and technological demonstration, and will realize scientific and technological innovation and demonstration application of photovoltaic, solar thermal, and energy storage collaborative power generation technologies.

"The project is constructed in two phases, each phase consisting of 800 MW photovoltaic +200 MW solar heat. The solar heat part of the first phase of the project is currently under construction. The total power generation utilization hours of the project are designed to be 1319 hours, and the annual power generation capacity is 2.6388 billion kilowatt-hours, and the average annual photovoltaic conversion efficiency is 15.75%." Ke Xijun, the person in charge of the project, said that the project will be built into the first new energy demonstration project in the Haixi region using heat storage photovoltaic and thermal power stations as peak shaving power supply, helping to build a national clean energy industry highland in Qinghai Province and contributing to the country's "double carbon" goal.
