On March 16, local time, the first batch of diesel and crude oil transported by the Bangladesh single-point mooring and double-track pipeline project undertaken by the Pipeline Bureau arrived at the Dongfang Refinery of the Bangladesh Petroleum Company, marking Bangladesh's first large-scale sea-land integrated oil storage and transportation project was officially put into commercial operation.

This project is Bangladesh's flagship project to realize its 2041 national development vision and a major achievement of the two countries 'joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative. The project was provided by the Chinese government, financing by the Export-Import Bank of China, and undertaken by the China Petroleum Pipeline Administration. It has achieved the "going global" of the entire industrial chain of Chinese capital, Chinese technology, Chinese equipment, and Chinese construction.

This is the first time that diesel and crude oil have been transported to the Dongfang Refinery after the completion of the project, completely ending the traditional inefficient and environmentally friendly way of receiving crude oil and diesel by the refinery requiring small boats to connect and transport by large ships. At the same time, the project shortens the time for a 100,000-ton large tanker to unload and transport crude oil from the previous 11 days to about 48 hours, providing an important guarantee for expanding the annual crude oil processing capacity of Dongfang Refinery from the current 1.5 million tons to 4.5 million tons.

Hasnut, deputy general manager of Dongfang Refining, said:"Modern oil transportation facilities will make our energy production more efficient and will create more opportunities to expand the production capacity of Dongfang Refinery. These efforts will ultimately benefit Bangladesh. We must express our appreciation and gratitude to the Chinese government and the Chinese petroleum people who have worked hard and efficiently on this project."

Sun Bijun, the project manager, said that as the first batch of important oil and gas storage and transportation projects implemented in Bangladesh under the Belt and Road Initiative, the project has greatly alleviated Bangladesh's energy shortage. The project construction has also created nearly 4000 jobs in Bangladesh and cultivated a group of outstanding technical talents for the local area.

In addition, this project has effectively driven "Made in China" to go global. 95% of the main materials such as core materials and related equipment needed for project construction come from China, and China's offshore engineering equipment technology has also achieved new development.
