Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Security and defense cooperation among all parties should not target a third party.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian presided over the regular press conference held today (date).
A reporter asked: The High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union is visiting Japan, where the Japanese government and the EU will sign a security and defense partnership agreement. According to local media reports, the agreement is aimed at China. What is China's response to the signing of this agreement by both parties?
Lin Jian stated that the security and defense cooperation among all parties should be conducive to promoting regional peace and stability, and should not target any third party or harm the security interests of other countries.
Lin Jian emphasized that due to historical reasons, Japan's military security developments have always been closely watched by the international community and neighboring Asian countries. We urge Japan to earnestly learn from historical lessons, adhere to the path of peaceful development, respect the security concerns of its Asian neighbors, and act cautiously in the field of military security. We also hope that the European side will refrain from intervening in territorial and maritime rights disputes among regional countries, and play a constructive role in maintaining regional peace, stability, and development.
