Panzhihua Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. accelerates speed and increases efficiency
Recently, the research and application project on the control technology for easily pickled scale, undertaken by Panzhihua Iron and Steel Research Institute under Ansteel Group, has passed the acceptance and achievement evaluation. The technology for regulating the scale structure and the domestically pioneering pre-fabricated oxide layer crack technology, after being applied at Panzhihua Vanadium and Titanium Plate Mill and Chengdu Plate Company of Panzhihua Iron and Steel, have significantly accelerated the pickling process section by over %, leading to a notable increase in production efficiency.
The pickling process, especially the low unit speed in the pickling section, has long been a bottleneck in increasing cold rolling capacity. Previously, due to the influence of the structure and thickness of the oxide layer on the raw material surface, the efficiency of the pickling process for interstitial-free steel and hot-dip galvanized steel reacting with hydrochloric acid was low. The unit had to adopt a production process with low speed, high concentration, and high temperature, which not only affected production efficiency but also led to defects such as local over-pickling and under-pickling in the strip steel, reducing the yield of the strip steel.
Facing the urgency of on-site production, Pangang, based on laboratory research, combined with the characteristics of surface oxide layer transformation of pickling raw materials, conducted key technology research on red scale control, organization structure regulation of oxide layers in easily pickled products, and high-temperature oxidation behavior. It innovatively proposed technical measures for controlling the structure of easily pickled oxide scales, developed the technology for pre-cracking hot-rolled oxide scales in China, and formed a complete set of easily pickled oxide scale control technology.
The application of this project has significantly improved the production efficiency of the acid pickling unit process section at Pangang, markedly enhancing the surface quality of the pickled strip steel. This not only strengthens the production capacity of Pangang's core products but also enhances the market competitiveness of Pangang's cold-rolled products, contributing to the brand building of Pangang's cold-rolled automotive steel and home appliance steel.
