The National Development and Reform Commission officially approved the Kongduigou Mine and Coal Preparation Plant project.

On April 9, the National Development and Reform Commission officially approved the Kongduigou Mine and Coal Preparation Plant project. This is the first ultra-large modern mine project approved for construction in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the past year. It is also the third ultra-large coal mine project independently developed by Datang Group Company in Inner Mongolia after Longwanggou Coal Mine and Shengli East No. 2 Mine.

The Kongduigou Mine Project is a key development project in the Jungar Kuangqu planned by the state. The Kuangqu area covers an area of 39.87 square kilometers and has a resource reserve of 829 million tons. The main coal type is long-flame coal, which is a high-quality power coal. The approved construction scale is 7 million tons/year. After the completion of the project, the product coal can be transported abroad via the Hohhot Zhun Railroad-Mengzhou-Hebei Railroad-Caofeidian Port to supply coal to the coastal power plants along the line and the group company, which will further improve the group company's coal self-sufficiency rate and energy supply guarantee capabilities.

This project is the first new coal mine project in the country to obtain approval for production capacity replacement in accordance with the commitment system. It is also the only new coal mine project reported to the state for approval after the implementation of the "Coal Management Regulations of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region" in 2023.
