According to the China Private Education Association, Mr. Zhong Binglin, a famous educator, former president of Beijing Normal University and director of the Academic Committee of the China Private Education Association, passed away on April 7 at the age of 73.

According to public information, Zhong Binglin was born in Beijing in July 1951, as a professor and doctoral supervisor at Beijing Normal University and Southeast University.

Zhong Binglin stayed on to teach after graduating from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Nanjing Institute of Technology in 1977. In 1987, he obtained a master's degree in engineering from Nanjing Institute of Technology. In 1990, he was sent by the school to study in the UK. In 1992, he was promoted to professor. In 1994, he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Wales.

Zhong Binglin has been engaged in teaching and scientific research in mechanical fault diagnosis since the 1980s, and has been engaged in higher education management and education policy research since the 1990s.

In 1996, Zhong Binglin was appointed Director of the Higher Education Department of the National Education Commission, and later Director of the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education. From April 2001 to July 2012, he served as President of Beijing Normal University. In 2012, he was elected president of the 7th Council of the China Education Society.

In addition, Zhong Binglin was awarded the title of "China's Most Charming Principal" in 2010.
