According to the obituary, Zhong Shanshan's mother's name was Guo Jin, a member of the Communist Party of China and a retired cadre of the Women's Federation of Zhejiang Province.

Guo Jin was born in May 1929 in Dongyang, Zhejiang. In 1946, Guo Jin studied at Jiaxing Normal School in Pinghu; in September 1947, he participated in the revolution at Liaoyuan Cadre School in the guerrilla zone of eastern Zhejiang.

From April 1949 to 1950, Guo Jin successively worked in Changhe District, Xiaoshan County Party Committee, Xiaoshan County Women's Federation and other places, the then Secretariat of the Shaoxing Military Management Office. In May 1952, he was transferred to the Women's Federation of Zhejiang Province and has been engaged in work related to women and children. He retired honorably in October 1980.
