The Kenli 10-2 Phase 1/Kenli 10-1 Block A54 Well drilling project, an important part of China's billion-ton Kenli 10-2 giant oilfield, officially started construction on the 10th, according to sources close to the project from the Tianjin Branch of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC).

Kenli 10-2 oilfield is located in the southern waters of Bohai Sea, about 245 kilometers away from Tianjin, with an average water depth of about 15.7 meters. It is a large lithologic oil and gas reservoir discovered by CNOOC in the shallow layer of Laizhou Bay depression in 2021, with proven crude oil geological reserves exceeding 100 million tons.

This project, including a new central platform, 2 unmanned wellhead platforms, 7 new submarine pipelines and 4 submarine cables in Kenli 10-2 oil field, is a key project for achieving the target of 40 million tons of oil field output and 3 million tons of heavy oil output in Bohai in 2025.

The CEPC platform block of this project is by far the largest block in Bohai Oilfield. The floating weight of the block is nearly 20,000 tons, which is close to the load limit of the floating vessel. Faced with the problem of controlling the total weight of the block, the project team "reduced the weight" of the block through accurate equipment weight evaluation and refined design, realizing the overall floating support of the block, the living building and even the workover rig, and laying a solid foundation for efficient completion of offshore joint debugging.
